Butterfly Walk at Picnic Island

Join Tampa Bay Butterfly Foundation and NABA Tampa Bay on a butterfly walk at Picnic Island. Address is 7404 Picnic Island Boulevard in South Tampa. Meeting place will be between the bathrooms and pavilion #605. Cost is $5 for non-NABA members. Please bring payment morning of event. Plan for the outdoors, heat, mosquitoes, no-see-ums, getting feet wet if you don’t wear the right shoes to avoid it. Bring plenty of water to drink. So we will park initially and then caravan through as we make our way toward the exit. Species that could be seen include Cloudless sulphur, Orange-barred sulphur, White peacock, Zebra longwing, viceroy, Statira sulphur, Dainty sulphur, Common buckeye, Mangrove buckeye, Fiery skipper, Gulf fritillary, Phaon crescent, Cassius blue, Ceraunus blue, Monarch, Common white checkered skipper, Tropical white checkered skipper, and more. This is a new location that may be part of the North American Butterfly Association count circles for Tampa Bay. Come join us to help monitoring populations of butterflies in this beautiful park. Join Tampa Bay Butterfly Foundation and NABA Tampa Bay on a butterfly walk at Picnic Island in South Tampa. We will start out at around the southern-most part of the park and work our way to the entrance by 11:00 a.m.   This event is subject to change due to weather.

Monarchs & Mimosas

Every fall, monarch butterflies will travel thousands of miles from Canada to Mexico for the winter.  You can make a significant impact by supporting monarchs on their journey. Join us for Sunday brunch and learn about the native plants that will provide nectar for monarchs when they stop to rest and re-fuel. Brunch with mimosas for adults, and a complimentary raffle ticket, are included.

Booterfly Spooktacular

Mark your calendar to join us from 1-4 pm on Sunday, October 30, for an afternoon of animal encounters, kids' crafts, and Halloween fun.  Meet spooktacular snakes and other creatures, trick or treat, and more.  Fun for the entire family!  Costumes are encouraged but optional. A butterfly release at 3pm (weather permitting). This event is free; donations will be accepted for butterfly conservation.

NABA Tampa Bay Meeting & Butterfly Walk

New members welcome! Join NABA Tampa Bay members for a brief outdoor meeting Saturday, November 12th starting at 9:30 am at Gadsden Park located at 6901 S MacDill Ave in South Tampa.  Immediately following the meeting, we will have a butterfly walk.  Bring your own chair for the meeting.  We will meet under the trees North of the softball field at the back of the park. There is ample parking back there.  See link to map below.  If the weather is not cooperating that morning and it is raining, we will have the meeting at the Tampa Bay Butterfly Foundation gallery located at 4111 Henderson Blvd next to Little Red Wagon Native Nursery.
